Azure Copilot and GitHub Copilot app modernization
Accelerate modernization with a code-to-cloud connected AI experience. The demo video, "Azure Copilot and GitHub Copilot app modernization," showcases how AI assistance streamlines application modernization by connecting development and cloud workflows, reducing friction, and enabling faster deployment decisions. Check out the demo video to see AI-assisted modernization in action.
What is Azure Copilot and GitHub Copilot for app modernization?
Azure Copilot and GitHub Copilot work together to help teams modernize applications with AI assistance across the full lifecycle.
GitHub Copilot focuses on the code side: it helps developers write, refactor, and update application code using AI-generated suggestions directly in the IDE. This can speed up tasks like updating legacy code, introducing new patterns, or integrating with modern services.
Azure Copilot focuses on the cloud and operations side: it helps you plan and implement changes to your application architecture on Azure, such as moving to managed services, improving scalability, or aligning with cloud best practices.
Used together, they provide an AI-assisted, end-to-end experience—from code changes in GitHub to deployment and modernization on Azure—so teams can rethink and reimagine how they update and run their applications.
How does the end-to-end, AI-assisted experience actually help my team?
The connected experience between Azure Copilot and GitHub Copilot is designed to streamline the modernization journey for both developers and operations teams.
For developers:
- GitHub Copilot can suggest code updates, tests, and refactoring patterns as you work, reducing manual effort on repetitive or boilerplate tasks.
- It can help interpret existing code and propose ways to adapt it for modern architectures or Azure services.
For cloud and operations teams:
- Azure Copilot can guide you through options for hosting, scaling, and securing your applications on Azure.
- It can help you rethink deployment models, recommend Azure services, and support configuration and management tasks.
Because these tools are connected, your team gets a more consistent, AI-assisted flow—from planning and coding through deployment and ongoing improvement—rather than a set of disconnected steps.
